I agree with Maya Angelou. I can only speak for myself with certainty but I believe it is true with most, if not all, of us. Just close your eyes and recall an event from your past (e.g., meeting a person, visiting a speical place, doing something creative like painting or writing) . What do you remeber about it? Chances are not so much what was said or done but how it made you feel...happy, sad, elated, angry, scared, calm, and so on.
Our verbal, physical signals leave lasting impressions at the emotional level. This realization brings forth an important lesson for me: Be aware of my words and actions for they can either embrace, support, inspire, and comfort people or can do exact opposite.
Thought for the week of 04/12-04/18, 2009 I was infatuated with typography in college. Many could not understand its appeal. No matter. It was fascinating to learn about different typefaces and use them graphically to communicate a message, an emotion...thus was created "word and image" pieces.
Recently I stumbled upon my old portfolio case and found some of the works I have created many years ago. Oh the joy of rediscovering one's old love. Then it occurred to me, "What happened to that passion?, Where did it go?, Can I have it back?"Well, my imagination has been stirred....
This piece expresses to me that life is a journey and to celebrate it with boldness and spontaneity.

Visualize or imagine in your mind that you are gazing at the moon...the soft, luminous glow about it...surrounded by mysterious darkness....How or what do you feel? Nostalgic, longing, warm, peaceful, calm, reflective, awe, romantic, or perhaps melancholic?
