Inspiration - August 2009

How we perceive and interpret our life experiences is the key to our happiness.


Thought for the week of 08/31-09/06, 2009

I met a wonderful friend from Intent.com. She is wise and compassionate. Based on our growing friendship that started with sharing our spiritual experiences, I was inspired to create this artwork. I say unequivocally that a friendship that loves, supports, and brings out the best in us plays an essential role in nurturing a healthy self.

Thought for the week of 08/24-08/30, 2009

Visual art always has been my strength. I gave it a shot at writing short story and poetry but it was simply too challenging for me. I am fortunate enough to have good friends who are poetic writers and they certainly inspire me.

One poetry book I have is by Robert Frost. And one of his well-known poems is the "The Road Not Taken" I share with you here. Poetry is very tricky for me. It can be interpreted in so many ways...ah, but that can be said about any artistic creation, I suppose. In any case, to me, this poem celebrates human choice and the courage to take the path that is not taken by many by following one's inner promptings.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.



Thought for the week of 08/17-08/23, 2009

As I get older I notice that friendship with other women is essential to my well-being, sharing our common life experiences. Out of this process, I was inspired to create the following artwork titled "Spirit of Women" to celebrate women and our oneness.

We all can use a bit of help to de-stress from dealing with many of life's challenges. Hypnosis/visualization is one of the quickest ways to achieve the desired state of calm mind and relaxed body. Listen to this video with eyes closed and allow yourself 10 minutes of bliss and awaken fully refreshed.
